The focus of this course was to get the best possible performance out of MySQL.The target audience - DBAs, SREs and alike. It was presented by Aurimas Mikalauskas at the Vinted office some 5 years ago. Aurimas was working as a consultant for Percona at the time. I’m not sure if the course is still available though. I got to watch a recording of the session at Vinted.
I had quite a long relationship with this course. My first attempt to watch it was with the Payments team in MobilePay. We used to dedicate an hour or two a week for learning. And one way to do it was by watching this course and discussing it. I don’t remember why, but we stopped watching it at around 50% mark. Then global pandemic hit and Particular Software made the course free for people who want to spend their lock-down time learning about software architecture. I was one of those people but somehow my enthusiasm faded after re-watching the first 30%. I have moved on to a new job by then, but my colleagues at Vinted were also interested in the course and we decided to spend our learning budgets on buying a group access to it. Third time was actually a charm and I finally watched the entire course in a few months period. And want to share my impression of it.

I got the videos of the course from a colleague. I’m not even entirely sure what is the official name of the course. In the introduction Greg Young says it is based on his 3-day workshop on CQRS, DDD and EventSourcing. The content of the videos was a little scattered even though I watched them based on their numbering. Some videos only showed Greg talking next to a whiteboard and some were probably filmed at the said workshops.
